Bridging Neuroscience and Endocrinology

Our own Dr. Anne-Marie Neumann (left) and Dr. Lisa Ruck from the Charité Berlin (right) were invited to host a session at this year’s Annual Meeting of the German Society of Endocrinology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Endokrinologie, DGE) in Rostock from 6th to 8th of March.

Anne and Lisa are representatives of YARE, Young Active Research in Endocrinology, and have organised and chaired the session called „Rethinking Endocrine Disruption – Interplay of Hormones and Psychosocial Factors“. Talks focused on the impact of glucocorticoid rhythms on mental health, disruptive circadian behaviour, reasons for childhood obesity, and environmental adaptations proposed to increase metabolic health of the (young) population.

YARE works to boost interaction, communication, and collaboration of young researchers with each other and established scientists/clinicians in endocrinology and related fields. Anne has actively participated in this initiative for six years. Given her recently shifted research focus to more basic neuroscience, she will pass on her position of vice speaker at the end of the year. This year’s well-received session at the DGE was a highlight of her time in YARE and a fitting send-off to new professional endeavours!
